Where We Were Friends

from Is There a Message For Me? by Johnny Chirnside

lyrics

Take me on a journey somewhere away from here
Book me on the early train and pay my rent arrears
There's a chance that in the morning I'll awake without a tear
'Til then I'll raise a glass or two in Kingston Town
Where we were friends

I fall in to the whiskey world but the bottle's wearing thin
I'm seeing my reflection it confirms the state I'm in
But still I fool around with some girl I found
I took her home and done my thing
But all she could do was remind me of you
And Kingston Town where we were friends

Sitting on a Northern bound with a bag full of German beer
The question going round and a round
Of how it is that I've wound up here
I'm trying to understand how the things we planned
Were thrown away for your career
And all I can do is escape from you and Kingston Town
Where we were friends, where we were friends
Where we were friends, where we were friends
Where we were friends
